Pros and cons for choppers, dirt bikes, and street bikes for city riding?
Question by : Pros and cons for choppers, dirt bikes, and street bikes for city riding?
People keep giving me different definitions of choppers, so I’m talking about like a Harley, maybe custom built.
I define a dirt bike as the ones they use in motorcross sports.
I define a sport bike as those weirdo Japanese things.
I want to get/build a chopper for street riding in Chicago city and the suburbs. Maybe I’ll take it cross-country one day.
What would be the pros and cons to all those bikes?

Answer by Tim D
You are limiting your definitions too much – look at KTM’s Adventure, BMW 800cc GS, Triumph 800 Tiger – decent (overpowered for city only use) street bikes for the city and comfortable enough for cross-country with a little off-road thrown in (more gravel paths than full-on for the latter two).
Or standard bikes like Hornets, Fazers, Bandits, GSRs, Speed Triples for example.
