Big Bear Choppers
When the economy took a tumble last year I expected that most of the companies making production choppers would fall with it. After all, choppers are more of a luxury item and unlike booze and cigarettes people are willing to give up having luxury items when economic times are tough.
Fortunately Big Bear Choppers survived. I’m guessing that part of the reason is the fact that they actually offer a production chopper for under 20K. The other part may be the fact that they sell their kit bikes to many smaller shops who build them. While some of the bikes do not technically qualify as choppers based on my criteria (see this: What Makes A Chopper A Chopper?), almost all models are either true choppers or can be bought as a chopper or a Pro Street.
Since 2002, Big Bear Choppers has also continually added new models to their line up and unlike some of their counterparts didn’t pull the old models from the line up. Best of all if you’ve only got about 20k and time on your hands you can save yourself about 10k by building the bike yourself. Big Bear’s kit bikes are second to none.

That was a good idea. I’m guessing that part of the reason is the fact that they actually offer a production chopper for under 20K. The other part may be the fact that they sell their kit bikes to many smaller shops who build them. Thank you.
