What is a good motorcycle for someone who has never owned one before?

Question by kissmyface: What is a good motorcycle for someone who has never owned one before?
Ive never had a motorcycle, but ive been thinking about getting one for awhile. Ive looked at some of the common motorcycles online and stuff, but I also want some opinions from other people. Thanks for the help!

I graduate from High School next year and I’m looking into becoming a motorcycle technician. My dream job would be working for a professional motocross team, but since that is highly unlikely I’d be happy with being a mechanic in some dealership. I’ve heard about MMI and WyoTech, but I don’t know whether or not those schools are good considering all of the reviews online. I live in Oregon and I wouldn’t mind moving out of state.

Listen jDog, don’t listen to those reviews. Those are reviews coming from pissed off WyoTech graduates who probably didn’t apply themselves in school.

Although I’m going to WyoTech-Laramie to be an automotive tech, I looked into WyoTech-Daytona (where you learn to be a motorcycle tech) and it is a FANTASTIC school! And it might be pretty far away from where you live, but trust me it will be worth it! I know that MMI is the “motorcycle school” but in my honest opinion, WyoTech is a far more superior school with much more accreditation than MMI.
