The American Iron Horse Motorcycles story is a tragic one. Started in 1995, American Iron Horse was one of several companies that manufactured and sold production custom choppers. While I believe they were the best looking of any of the big three chopper companies, the other two being Big Bear Choppers and Big Dog Motorcycles, AIH is the only one who failed.
Interestingly enough they were also the only manufacturer who did not do well offering chopper kits in addition to the production bikes. This may have contributed to their downfall as few custom chopper shops seemed to have any need for an American Iron horse product.
Ultimately I think Iron Horse's inability or unwillingness to have anything even remotely resembling customer service was the nail in the coffin. You can not sell bikes to former Harley riders and not expect to have an expectation of the same type of customer service. Especially when your bikes cost $30,000 dollars.
At this writing nobody even wants to buy the name nor any of the patents this company had. It's a shame because the designs were stellar, but apparently from the amount of complaints they have from owners, the engineering was not.
A few shops have picked up a lot of parts cheap during the inventory sell offs and some of them are now selling rollers or chopper kits to guys who still want to build their own.
